About Grade Calculation

The Weighted Grade Calculator computes your overall course grade as a weighted average of individual assignments. Each assignment's contribution is proportional to its weight relative to the total weight entered.

The Final Grade Calculator uses the formula: Final Score Needed = (Desired Grade − Current Grade × (1 − Final Worth)) ÷ Final Worth. This tells you exactly what score you need on the final exam to achieve your target.

Both calculators accept letter grades (A+, B−, etc.) and numerical percentages interchangeably. Letter grades are converted using the standard 4.3-point scale.

Tips

  • • Weights don't need to add up to 100% — the calculator normalizes them automatically.
  • • Enter letter grades (A, B+) or percentages (90, 85.5) — both are accepted.
  • • Use Final Grade Planning to see what score you need on remaining tasks.

Frequently Asked Questions

Multiply each assignment score by its weight (as a decimal), then sum the results. Example: Homework 20% (score 85%), Midterm 30% (score 78%), Final 50% (score 92%) → 0.20×85 + 0.30×78 + 0.50×92 = 17 + 23.4 + 46 = 86.4%.
